JOB SUMMARY:

The Director of Nursing (DON) will plan, coordinate, and deliver comprehensive nursing services to diverse populations within rural communities, ensuring the provision of high-quality patient care. The DON will establish nursing practices that are aligned with the facility’s standards and regulatory requirements. This role will be responsible for monitoring patient outcomes and making necessary adjustments to improve care delivery and achieve optimal results. Additionally, the DON will play a key role in the development, implementation, and evaluation of hospital policies and procedures, ensuring they align with the hospital’s objectives. This includes, but not limited to overseeing discharge planning, risk management, quality improvement initiatives, swing bed programs, and infection control measures. The DON will work closely with interdisciplinary teams to ensure that nursing services meet the unique needs of rural areas and will be instrumental in driving continuous improvement in patient care standards. Strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills are essential, as the DON will be expected to lead quality assurance comply with regulatory standards.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

  • Proficiently be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Comprehensive understanding of nursing practices, procedures, and protocols, including patient care, assessment, and clinical decision-making.
  • In-depth knowledge of healthcare laws, regulations, and accreditation standards, including those from bodies such as The Joint Commission, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), patient rights, confidentiality (HIPPA), and state health departments.
  • Effective delegation, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire, motivate, resolve conflicts, time/team management guiding the nursing staff.
  • Ability to make sound decisions under pressure and in emergencies.
  • Proficiency in utilizing electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Requires high levels of concentration and attention to detail, especially when reviewing patient care plans, compliance documentation, and quality improvement initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Current MN Registered Nurse license
  • 3-5 years hands-on clinical nursing experience
  • 1-2 years of leadership or supervisory experience (preferred)
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications
  • Must pass MN background check and fingerprinting
  • Complete TB test within the first 3 weeks of employment

JOB SCHEDULE/LOCATION(S):

  • Hallock, MN
  • Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm, and as needed for the department
  • Hospital and ER setting
